Our yard has it and it has been down just over a year. It is one of the cheapest surfaces on the market I think. So far it seems OK but can seem a bit slippy and I dont like jumping big fences on it. I guess like all things you get what you pay for.

I'v got one - it will have been down for a year in Dec. Didn't have a choice cos of planning issues. There are partic probs with rubber due to runoff - apparently when water runs off it when it's raining, it pollutes the water table. You can get into quite a lot of trouble over it.

Anyway, I use it most days & jump on it, & so far it's been fine. The only prob is that the horses *love* rolling on it... My old mare is permanently covered in bits of school.

Yard I used to be on had it and is the reason I moved. Ok for few months then became slippy. Several horses went right over.

I had to comment on some of the bad views. I had Cushionride surafce for over 6 years. It is economic, eco friendly, horses love it and it rides fantastically .Never any problem with drainage or freezing. I am sure there is no problem with wood fibre surafces once correctly installed. I would certainly recommend Cushionride

We had it on my old yard... it was awful

Very slippy when wet and when very dry just as bad and shifts when jumping on it.
It's being taken up and replaced with sand and rubber when the YO can afford to do it

The yard where I am at has it, although they mixed it in with the existing surface which was a sand/pvc mix.

It's okay, I've ridden in a lot worse. It's quite deep and mushy in one end, but thats due to the school drainage rather than the surface.

I seem to remember one local equestrian centre put this in their indoor a few years back and it was awful, really slippy and deep.

I prefer it outside and bedded/wetted in.

But if I were putting a new school down I wouldn't use it

I have had it for about 6 years now and it now needs a good top up, i have not used it a huge amount and only selected it initially because it was supposed to be the only one suitable to drive carriages on at that time, I have been happy with it but the weeds do like to grow on top if you leave it, I installed it myself with no drainage only hardcore then weed material, I must say for what it cost I wish I had done it years before. You can see some pictures of a horse I have for sale working in it and I think you will agree it still looks good, all I do is harrow it and weed spray and weed pull in the summer. www.palominocobs.co.uk

It is a common misconception that rubber creates run-off. If you use a supplier who screens their rubber to remove the fine powders there is no opportunity for run-off. Many rubber suppliers do not screen because the fine powders add to the weight of the load or they don't have the neccesary equipment. It is this type of un-screened rubber that could create problems.

our yard has a cushion ride surface and its great! Very soft and bouncy to ride on, never gets so much as a puddle on it and it isn't too dry..however our YO put down an excellent base/drainage....a surface is sometimes only as good as the base it is put on...

we have this surface (actually easiride but it's the same), not had a problem with it, it never waterlogs and surface is of the same quality/rides the same 4 years after it was put down. Alot of time and money was put into the base and the surface is well maintained etc. I jump/school/lunge and never had a problem, find the surface rides better when it's wet. When i had it built i would say it took a few months and lots of rain to realy knit togther and settle but now it's fab. Just use it myself, wouldn't recommened it for a livery yard where it would be getting heavy use.

we couldn't have anything else for planning reasons (not allowed rubber because of the sheen it creates) but not dissapointed with the wood fibre surface at all

yuck surface- have never seen one which has survived well or rides well.

all the ones i know are too slippy to jump decent sized fences on and get very deep in the summer.

a false economy imo.
