So basically, I will be ringing the vet tomorrow, but i have just found this on my girl and wandered if anyone has ever seen this before or experienced it?

i can touch it and poke it and she's not bothered at all - she reacts to pain very obviously.. so its not painful. I'm worried its a cyst or a sarcoid? or on the other end of the scale, i suppose it could just be a fly bite?

Thanks in advance :)

can't really tell from photo, what is under the hair? does it have a head?
is it hard or soft?

could it just be a fly bite?

If it is not painful then maybe not a cyst. My old horse used to get a few different lumps, never bothered with the vet unless they got infected, then once a year when vet came to give jabs he would inject them with something and weeks later they had gone

I wouldn't panic unless you are worried for reason other than its there

No head, literally just a hard lump.. I can poke and prod it and she doesn't bat an eye lid. She is the sort of mare who'd kick up if it was hurting!

Think I'll relax a bit and give it a week or two (whilst monotering) and then contact vets as it is just behind the bridle, not rubbing but close enough!

:-) thanks for your reply!

Yes I will be getting the vet but want to give it a chance first.. The dentist said her lad had an identical lump like this, same place and she thinks it's a fly bite or perhaps something has gone
In and it's swollen.. She had a good look, poke and prod and said she's pretty sure it's not a sarcoid, or Tumor as you can get your finger underneath.. It's not attached to her body if you get what I mean.. So will give it time:)

Looks like a tick infected lump! Tick bites and gets rubbed off leaving part of it still in. You could bathe with salt water whatever it is and monitor.
