what do you think of it ?
I use aubiouse or equizorb and it makes a lovely clean looking bed .I use it over rubber matting. However it is getting really expensive and with 4 big horses like everyone else I am looking to slim costs.I have had a sample of a new recycled bedding which works out at just over £5 a bale (20 kilo)delivered.
If collected then it is £4 a bale .To get a good price I need to order 2 pallets (72 bales) I am worried if it doesn't work I am stuck with it for most of the winter.
Also how does it rot dwn in a muck heap?
My problem is I am not sure how absorbant it is compared to equisorb or aubiouse and how easy it is to keep looking nice.
Any thoughts please .It is considerably cheaper than what I am using.

i've used Ecobed cardboard bedding for years, on matting. i've posted a lot about it in the past. i find it absorbent, haven't used equisorb so can't comment, used Aubiose years ago, yard of 10 on it so a good trial (!) and i hated it!
must admit, i do train mine to wee in a bucket when they come in at night, as this saves a load of bedding, but my barn doesn't have proper drainage either. no smell, i never lift the mats but the odd time i check, there's no wet under them.
easy to muck out, no dust (doesn't break down to dust with use unlike shavings), no nasty newsprint to get into cuts and abrasions. rots down very quickly, can be used as mulch immediately, wormery worms love it (at my old place, wormery guy would take muck for free), or burns easily too.

I second ecobed/bed excel for absorbancy, good worm food/decompose.

Its easy to keep looking nice as it is so easy to muck out and does not discolour like shavings do eventually.

I really like it and so do the worms!

I've Just switched Buzz on to Shredded cardboard which i got through Sjhay1 on here nd so far i really like it nd it is half the price of shavings
