Any one used bio sponge for diarrhoea?

We used it for our Sec A who had very complex gastric and other health problems. It was a "last ditch" resort when the scouring was too bad and it always worked. We weren't supposed to use it long term - but I confess I can't remember why now. I don't recall it being messy though. The pony was - obviously. But the bio Sponge sorted it out.
 
Don't understand the 'messy' comment. You would need to syringe it which gets everywhere if horse isn't accommodating . My horse was extremely ill , and while sadly I did lose her, the bio sponge was pretty effective in dealing with diarohea aspect.
