Any opinions on this idea of mine?

I have 5 horses with access to stables. 2 need to eat more than the other 3. Would it be a good idea to just close the door to the 2 stables so the needy horses can let themselves out when they have finished their hay and feed. They have let themselves out when the bolt has not been done properly.

Sounds dangerous to me too, especially if the greedy horses cotton on there is food in there and try to get in when the others are half out. Or the needy horses leave food and greedy boys go in there and scoff it.

I can imagine someone jack-knifed on a door, you know how horses like to think up new ways to call the vet :o

Believe me, it won't take long for the horses shut out to learn that they can just pull the door open. Recipe for disaster I am afraid.

Spent all weekend putting in posts and making a small paddock for them but before I could electrify it(someone borowed my energiser and broke it) it got trashed. Posts got broken and it was too dangerous so had to rip it all out.

Shut the two who need to eat more safely into the stables with doors properly secured so nothing can get in or out for 2 hours a day with the extra food they need. (Or for half a day if you can only visit your property twice a day, so you shut them in on one visit and shoo them out on the other).
