I have just been having an interesting chat with someone who has obviously watched PDE and has such a biased view of show dogs, saying that they are all "deformed" and unable to run/walk cos they are so inbred they are crippled... Such a shame that so many people were taken in by that completely biased view of show dogs. Hmmm... My pugs were most in the firing line by this person saying i was cruel to keep them as they are so deformed they are unable to even go for normal walks and overheat when they try to!

So, here's some of my cripples! All current/former show dogs... Feel free to add your own!

well done. I am actually a fan of pedigree dogs. Yes, there are some that have problems, but not all of them are cripples. Your dogs look very happy and very healthy.

I know what you mean I made the mistake of telling some of my Uni 'friends' that I was planning to breed my Wire Haired Fox Terrier she is slightly inbred 4 generations back but is fit & healthy. All they were bothered about was that her skull is too small for her brain and that her and any puppies she has will have seizures and die slowly :( needless to say they will not get to play with the puppies

I want your puglets .

My bulldog is no slouch either in the exercise department although granted he's no greyhound. He enjoys long walks and can potter for england even though he is a supposed freak. In fact my vet says he has very good breathing and you never hear him unless he's asleep and then he snores.

Not a very dignified end for that rabbit - PMSL :D

Glad to see your puglet doesn't stop working when she gets in the house - does she bring you your wine too? :D

Click on the photos to see the short YouTube videos that my nephew have done of my poor deformed purebred show dogs.

Notice how, though that their breathing must be affected by their poor purebred deformed skulls, my ladies can still without
any problem both run and bark at the same time!

I'm a computer numpty and don't have a digital camera, so the only photos I can show you, is those that my nephew
have graciously downloaded into my computer from his mobile phone camera and those videos are the only ones he has
taken of them in action.)

Personally I think it is one thing if somebody like Gazehound have an opinion about how dogs should look but it is completely
different, if somebody who have none or very little knowledge about dogs, still claims to know many things for certain after
only having seen one TV programme.

Different media isn't new to us humans, newspapers, radio and TV have been around for quite a while, yet so few seems
to remember to think for themselves and not take everything they read or hear, like the gospel. Besides, only because
something might affect some dogs in some breeds, it doesn't mean that it is always guaranteed to be the same for all other
purebred dogs or even, for all other dogs of the same breed.

I've recently seen a TV programme involving risky childbirths, it was full of abdominal wall defects, tumours detected during
ultrasonography, suspiciously sounding heart murmurs and mothers developing diabetes during the pregnancy etc.
Strangely enough, I still believe that it doesn't have to be complicated to be pregnant and that not all babies are born with defects!
