Corroy has suffered with stiffness for a number of years now due to a sacroilliac injury. She was basically written off, but I found a fab physio who has done wonders with her. Initially she was treated every 3 months, but we can now go a year without treatment. Basically has improved so much and it never really is an issue these days. She can dressage to a reasonable level, jump etc. She is on Equiflex also. However yesterday I went to have a jumping lesson and she has got stiff very quickly (prob weather). Physio is coming on Monday anyway. But my question is I would be interested to know how other people deal with this.

Sorry for the ramble.

I don't know what that is, could you explain please?

Can offer you some holistic advice...

How about Armadillo leg wraps - we use them on Hils who has an old stifle injury and have been really pleased wtih the difference. Magnets need to be a certain strength though and some equine magnets on the market are a waste of money so do your research carefully.

We have him out at night at the moment with a trace clip but have him well-rugged with a neck cover. We have found that this keeps him mobile and moving. We work on the basis that it is best to keep him as warm as possible.

When he comes in we put thermatex leg wraps on him and work him in the middle of the day so he is not standing for long periods.

We try and work him consistently everyday with the odd day off. He is regularly checked by a physio and is working and competing at PSG at 15

He is also fed Blue chip Dynamic.

K you know I think the only solution for this is to buy one of those H wave machines- would love to buy one for my own use and they just work wonders! But obv they are horrifically expensive!

Another thing that I think helps brilliantly with stiffness is Linseed oil and Brewers yeast... any horse I have that suffers from stiffness just has loads and loads of boiled linseed in its feed a few times a week.

Synoquin is a joint suppliment - only available through your vets, but apparently very good.

Sorry, Amy, you can get it from anyone at a fraction of the vet's price! Animal Health at Beeston have been the best price I found (www.wormers.co.uk) and it is highly recommended by my local vets. Once the loading dose has been done it seems more economical and efficient that the others.

Really? Fantastic. I had thought it was only available on prescription. Great news though, as it was a prohibitive price through a vets.

That's what they'd like you to think!

When I used it, vets quoted £135, other vets £156, Animal Health was £103!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! some mark up there eh? Think it's now about £110 (hate to think what a vet charges) , expensive but still worth it in the long run I think. Friends old TB been on bute, oil, jabs, you name it, for years with an arthritic knee; told her about S and she tried it. Horse is as sound as a pound now and doesn't have any other medication at all; saved her a fortune; been 3 years now and she thought she had lost him before she tried it he was so bad.
A vet told me their practise up prices by at least 2% every couple of month even if price of actual drug hasn't risen, talk about a rip off!
