Hello,

Just wondering if there are any Owczarek Podhalanski owners hiding on here? shockingly short post for me!....only three in the Uk ( in Scotland) with one owner last I heard..just be interested to know...possibly some in Ireland(N.I) tho they may just have been visiting for shows....

Nope :D Gorgeous dogs though

they really are! (thank you for bumping!) Sadly not kc reg'd over here & although polish (tatra mountain region)they are even rare over there...the lady in Scotland & her husband planned for years & eventually brought 3 over after much searching..intending to breed & keep a good healthy line to keep the breed going..but sadly she died not long after & the husband is not young, so was still shell shocked at her loss so may now not be up to breeding the two bitches, as they have at least 10 per litter...felt so sorry for him too as he was the sort who would have lifetime help offered in contract of sale, not breed until they had vetted the potential homes, life guarantee & would only breed if enough suitable homes were looking or happily keep the lot..I was looking into them last year after lambing for two reasons..Mum is Polish...&knew the breed very well as a girl- and 2they simply have the most fantastic temperament & are even capable of assisting in delivering lambs& cleaning them up when born if the ewe is tired..plus they are far more level tempered than some of the other mountain breeds...(just having a daydream on a freezing day thinking if i bought one...or a litter I would be: 1 very warm...2no risk of chilblains...and possibly could teach them to do the animals on days like today!!;-)...........

I had to google what they were!

They look lovely, lots of fur to keep everyone busy!

yes I was just measuring out the front room ....my polar bear has expressed a new sense of calm with other white bear like dogs...and is trying to get the one on my Mac to respond!....prob a good job they aren't in the UK as I think I would need to buy shares in Dyson!:D another good thing about them is that the breed has actually benefitted from its rarity in having an almost non existant record of hip displasia & one of the healthiest breeds not particularly predisposed to any of the common nasties so many breeds suffer from today which is always nice to hear..tho I'd have to get a MUCH bigger sofa(s)....oh oh...the beginnings of the slippery slope!!!x
