So, my old much-loved and totally amazing ‘nurtural’ bitless finally gave up the ghost on Saturday. It was made from biothane I think. Worked so well on every horse it has been used on - for the last ten years or so.

But you can’t seem to get them anymore in this country? I have a spare Barefoot bridle that someone gave me - slightly too big, huge noseband and for some reason the straps are too close to the eyes. But it will keep us going until I can order something better.

Can anyone recommend me a ‘something better’? My old bridle was amazing: I had lots of control, could school, hack, everything in it. I also loved that it wasn’t leather so didn’t need cleaning with saddle soap/go stiff after getting wet etc.

I think Performance Equestrian does biothane bitless bridles. I have a brilliant Zilco endurance bridle but they don't seem to do crossunder bitless. One thing you could consider is finding a tack supplier who makes their own biothane tack? Try looking in the endurance world, Pioneer Endurance is the one I've seen. She makes bespoke biothane tack including bitless bridles. I would've thought a crossunder bitless bridle wouldn't be too difficult to make.
