Any recommendations for new riding hat

Unfortunately you need to see what makes suit your head shape

What ever one suits please please please don't just go for the basic 1384 and kite mark
Most people don't realise that that is the minimum standard anyone should have. But higher standards are available and not all of them are expensive

Best standard is snell
Or pas 'something'. (sorry brain failure)

I love Charles Owen or pro tector

^ PAS015 I believe.

It is very much what suits your head and what you want it for. I needed a new XC helmet and tried a HS1 since it has the SNELL safety rating in addition to the other two, but it didn't suit my headshape (apparently a different shape will be available as well in a couple of months). So I bought the same helmet again - a Charles Owen (Pas015 & bsen1384). For everyday riding & dressage & showjumping I love my gatehouse conquest, lovely cool head and so comfy for me but again it depends on your head shape!

As the others have said, it really depends on what head shape you have. I went out to buy a new hat last year, tried HS1, champion and Charles owen, only the Charles owen fitted me, the other two did not suit my head shape at all. But my friend has the HS1 and rates it very highly, it suits her head shape and she loves it. So i'd say that the only good way of buying a hat is to go to a shop and try on lots of them, get them fitted and see which ones fit your head shape :)

Totally agree with this. The only make that fits me well is Champion, it took a lot of trying on to work that out. Go to a reputable tack shop with trained fitters. I would have bought a size bigger as my hat felt tight but I was assured it was the correct size and a few months in I'm really pleased I didn't as it has given a bit and now fits perfectly.

as everyone else has said its all about what fits your head but buy the best safety rating you can afford your life is worth it afterall if you can HS1 is Snell which is the highest rating i believe.
