My boys are now coming in at night, but my 4yr old is so dirty it's unreal. He is on rubber matting & shavings but he seems to like doing his mess where there is no shavings so I have had to literally cover the whole stable in shavings, but I am still having to take loads out everyday. My mum suggested trying him on straw, but I think he will just eat the straw. Anyone got any ideas, in the years of having horses I have never had such a dirty horse

But when you say mess, surely it's just the pee that's the issue / bit to take out and poo on the mats doesn't matter overnight?

No seriously he poo's & wee's everywhere spreads it all over the place, each day I go to muck it out the whole bed is just wet. I wouldn't mind so much if he done it just in 1 spot, but no not him EVERYWHERE
