Hope this link works?!

It's really bugging me now! ;)

I thought Europa at first, but looking at the larger pic, I think it looks more like a later version of my Beaufort lightweight. Your box looks to have a non-original hitch, so maybe that gives it a slightly different look. Think the Europa has a narrower front.

It's the older Beaufort. Later ones are on smaller wheels. It's heavier than the Europa, and takes bigger horses. The hitch has been replaced, by what looks like a Bradley. This presumably because some folk don't like the old screw-down hitches because they can forget to screw them properly, and you need to put a pin into the hitch to reverse to stop the brake coming on.

Thanks guys - that's all really helpful. It has been driving me mad this afternoon and looking on the net gives you different pictures every time. It has taken larger neds in the past too
When I bought the box it had this hitch on, but it's obviously quite a few years old so I imagine various bits & pieces were replaced. Certainly a slightly heavier box but does help when you're towing back from Broomies in gale force winds!!!!

it's definitely a beaufort not a europa - I had a europa for years and it's got an almost round window at the front it's so narrow (was a great trailer tho')

My Europa doesn't look as robust as that. It also has no top doors above the rear ramp, it has a tarp instead that clips into place.

If your's has the top doors, than it is not a Europa.

It's not as old as mine. I have the bigger (Land Rover) wheels and the old style hitch with the reversing pin, which I think are illegal after 1988/89.

The weight sticker said 914kg and it's badged as a lightweight  The standard Beaufort I had, was over a ton.

The partition in a Europa was different too, I think.

I believe it is the same as my previous trailer which was if I remember correctly a Rice Beaufort Popular? Made in the 70s and still going strong today (with a new floor). Very heavy but sturdy. I think the plate on it, or a number on the axle indicated the age of it, in case you needed this information.

Yup it's definitely sturdy!!! I replaced the floor about 2 years ago and it's done me very well! I shall take a closer look tonight & see what extra info I can source
Thank s again - all been really helpful indeed! :)

If you want someone who really knows, the guy from warwickshire trailers knows everything about old Rices. He would be worth a bell. I think from memory he said the Europas tend to have flat lower panels on some parts (jockey door, front ramp?) And have the rounder window, whereas the beaufort has the ridges all round and the longer window.

I'm going to be very sad to see it go actually! I've had it for around 8 years or so and it's done me so well *welling up already* ;)
