I'm in my late twenties and struggle a lot with my tank of a cob. My hips, knees and ankles hurt after 20 minutes, go numb about half hour after that and dismounting is always a case of I hope i land on my feet but cant feel them so jump and pray situation. If i don't ride daily i end up walking like john wayne (most of the time now!). He is extra wide though and I'd never had an issue on heavy's before
I've found riding with longer stirrups helps the knees and ankles but not the hips. My saddle is a Thorowgood cob GP and that helps my hips, my leather saddle really really hurts so its been retired to gather dust!
