Any riders with full or partical knee replacements out there?

My partner has been advised he needs 'new knees'! Specialists have suggested it's full or partical replacements and they say that he can continue to 'horse ride'. But as they are not riders themselves their casual 'yes' is a huge bother, because we think that they think you just 'sit' on a horse and don't use your knees

My partner jumps hunts XC etc and still wants to continue this.
So, is there anyone who is an active, even competitive rider who has had either full or partical knee replacements, and how is it for you. Want to know the good and the bad. Thanks

My instructor had a partial knee replacement.
She was up and about remarkably quickly and was out walking her dogs (on crutches) within 4 days.

She says she wished they'd done it years ago as it has allowed her to do so much more.

My Dad had full new knee and says its the best thing he ever did.

He plays golf regularly and occassionally rides. Last summer he was riding 3/4 times per week.

He recovered really quickly and the surgeon said that it was because he carried on his normal life while he was waiting for the op and by doing as much as he could it meant there was no deterioration of surrounding muscles.

This just shows how much opinions can vary.
A client of mine is hoping to have reconstruction work on her knee but worst scenario is she may need a partial knee replacement. Her surgeon has adviced her that if the replacement op' has to be done she must never ride with it again. Devastating for her but at the moment she is not even mobile so wouldn't want to risk undoing any work done
