Any rug experts out there?

My horse has broken his medium weight turn out rug this morning and can't get it fixed until 3rd Jan. I have found a rug his old owner gave me which is a 'Galaxy Saturn'.

Does anyone know if this is a turnout rug or a stable rug? It's difficult to tell just looking at it.

If you aren't sure, try wetting the outside (a small area!) and see if its waterproof..

Has it got any 'seams' on the outside?

Stable rugs tend to have seams to make them 'duvet' like whereas turnouts tend to be on large piece of fabric - reduces the chance of water getting in

No it doesn't have any duvet like seams or quilting on the outside. I think it probably is a turn-out but I will try the water test to check before I turn him out in it.

It may be a Fal stable rug from the old range.

If I can remember right, if it's a black rug with red binding it's an old style Fal turnout
