Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any regulations stipulating the minimum distance a horse can be stabled next to a rented property ? ( not the tennants horse )

ie: it has to be at least nn metres away

Many thanks

Mark

Dont have the foggiest

Common sense would say that if its on thier land and they have the planning permission for it ( if its a stucture that requires permission) then there may not be any required distance, just like a next door neighbours garage goes right up to the border of your land. However, we all know common sense isnt always used!

Why?

Ps. I dont understand why youve pointed out its a rented property, surely this makes no difference, unless its the landlords stables of course!

ask your local council? i would expect if its not your house there will be something about a distance

when i lived at home i had my pony 1 metre from my bedroom window at one point lol

When we built our stable block the rules were, Not to take up more than 50% of the garden, 5 meters away from the next nearest building and no more than 4 meters tall. That was lincolnshire council building regs. We didn't need planning as they were wwithin the boundry of our garden.

I see were you are coming from OP, as there are certain regs regarding pigs, but cant help with horses sorry, also sugest asking the council? someone will come along in the know
