I have an extremely fussy TB when it comes to saddles, we have finally found a jumping saddle which he seems to like, but it has short points (saddler fitter thinks he dislikes the longer points). I am now looking for a second hand dressage saddle with a budget up to £700 with short points, does anyone know which brands have short points? The only saddle my saddle fitter has is an Anky, but its up for £1200 a lot more than my budget, thanks in advance

Hi, sorry, I should have expanded my post a bit more! A new Matrix would be outside your budget, but they are available second hand. There is also the Free Spirit, which was the forerunner to the Matrix, and again you can get these second hand. You might find though that if you did a test ride of Balance saddles, your horse wouldn't mind a 'pointed' one - they are designed to be very horse-friendly and so the points of the Balance tree will feel different to the points of a traditional tree.

Any saddle aimed at cobs is likely to have shortened tree points - if you then look for this type of brand but a tree that is slightly deeper, and a deeper rear gussetted panel, as long as the tree can be adjusted narrower, as can most normal trees, then you should find something to work. Some TBs even fit a standard cob saddle so it totally depends on his shape.
