Any Shoulder Surgery Stories

So after two years of struggling along, two steroid injections (pre Covid), I am now about to have surgery to my right shoulder to clean up the wear and tear of mucking out industrial amounts of horses and being dragged about like a rag doll. The surgeon said it should be fairly simple, keyhole surgery under a GA, tidy up the frayed edges and make room for things to swell (bit like my old horse's fasciotomy, I guess).
I put off surgery before as I was living on my own and they had mentioned that I would not be able to drive for a month or so, not do my horse for a similar amount of time etc and the thought of trying to cope on my own frightened me. So now I have Mum here to help so thought I better crack on as I need to be fit to look after her.
I am waiting on a new MRI before the surgeon will give me more of a guide but he did say no real work (i.e. office work) two weeks and he'd discuss the horses later. He is not anti horse and has treated a number of my horsey friends for various things. I was really lucky that I got him as everyone raved about how good he was before I started all of this.
Has any one got any experiences of the rehab and how successful or not their surgery was? Hints and tips are greatly appreciated.

Yup had a subacromial decompression and reattachment of a tendon in 2013. Went in for surgery on 25/11/13 and was back playing Badminton competitively by Feb 2014, not going to say it was the smoothest of surgeries for me (I’m allergic to GA so there were com0lications that left me on oramorph for four weeks) but the procedure itself was a success and I’ve had no pain ever since I healed. I followed my rehad to the letter as my pain was at the point I could lift or carry or push or pull a door with my right hand/arm the pain was too much, sleeping wasn’t much fun either unless I was propped up And I wasn’t risking going back to that so my horse went on loan and I rested and did nothing for the first 8 weeks other than pain meds sleep and physio.

Thank you, that's encouraging and scary all at same time. I have just got a date for my MRI which is the 17th September which is rather cr*p as I had hoped to be having the surgery by then so that I can keep the costs down on horsecare as Stormy is currently living out and it will be easier to easy myself back in if she's still living out. I have told them that I can go in a very short notice to speed it all up so fingers crossed for a cancellation before then!
