So after two years of struggling along, two steroid injections (pre Covid), I am now about to have surgery to my right shoulder to clean up the wear and tear of mucking out industrial amounts of horses and being dragged about like a rag doll. The surgeon said it should be fairly simple, keyhole surgery under a GA, tidy up the frayed edges and make room for things to swell (bit like my old horse's fasciotomy, I guess).
I put off surgery before as I was living on my own and they had mentioned that I would not be able to drive for a month or so, not do my horse for a similar amount of time etc and the thought of trying to cope on my own frightened me. So now I have Mum here to help so thought I better crack on as I need to be fit to look after her.
I am waiting on a new MRI before the surgeon will give me more of a guide but he did say no real work (i.e. office work) two weeks and he'd discuss the horses later. He is not anti horse and has treated a number of my horsey friends for various things. I was really lucky that I got him as everyone raved about how good he was before I started all of this.
Has any one got any experiences of the rehab and how successful or not their surgery was? Hints and tips are greatly appreciated.
