He went very lame very suddenly yesterday. Vet came out to see him and thought an abcess but cut away bits of the hoof and couldn't find anything. He had to be sedated for all this
Today he was even worse and couldn't stand on it. Vet came out again and took the bandages off, and all this gunky stuff came out
it was foul! Stunk to high heavens and a lovely dark browny yellow colour.
He couldn't see where the pus was all coming from though so just gave the hoof a thorough rinsing with disinfectant and re-poulticed it (which took a lot of doing but managed without sedation!)
He's on bute twice a day but isn't that keen to eat, and is on box rest for two days when vet is coming back out to see him.
He's very unhappy at having to stay in and away from his girls so he'd love some HHO hugs
this morning
new poultice this afternoon
