Bit bored at work so I've been daydreaming about what stallion I would put my mare too. I'm thinking of breeding from her in a couple of years time so does anyone have any good stallion suggestions? She's 14.3hh pure bred arab (by azlal) She has a fantastic jump but she really excels at dressage. I would love to breed to an arab but I really want to have something that I could do dressage on. So ideally a dressage arab stallion if one exists! I was thinking more along the lines of a warmblood pony stallion as obviously dont want something too big as she is dinky! here are some pics (excuse the numpty on her back) these were taken a while ago(we've come on a lot since then!) but they are the best i have on this computer!

yep, she's a pure bred arab.
hmmm. some gorgeous stallions on there. white-kossak looks lovely and def fits the bill! Does anyone know anything about him?

What a pretty mare! What's her breeding - is she on allbreeds so I can look up her full pedigree? Her sire is beautifully bred - classic Spanish/English/Egyptian cross, and out of the legendary Aliha! Lucky you!

White Kossack looks impressive, although for me he lacks type (JMO). Another top Arab dressage stallion would be Dervatiw Gwyddion, who won a lot in dressage in the US before coming here. Or there is PHA Silvern Risalm - a prolific winner in ridden Arab classes, and competing successfully in dressage as well.

My own stallion H Tobago (Psytadel x Teeba) would I think be perfect for her, but sadly he is only 3 years old and not even backed yet! He is an international in-hand champion, more typey than the dressage boys I've mentioned, and has the conformation and movement for dressage - but you are looking for proven performance, not 'potential'.

Anyway - here he is, just in case you might consider him later on, when he's proved he can do more than prance around a show ring looking pretty!:

Thanks for sharing the pics of your girl - I love to see Arabs out there competing. I'm hoping my boy will do dressage - although not with me riding, cos I'm a total numpty!

OMG I am going to have such a tough time when I do decide to breed from her!
htobago: her dam is Shallotte(sp?) I certainly am lucky to have her! the only reason I could afford her was that she'd been untouched in a field for over a year and is the worst weaver ever! I think she looks very similar to aliha she has an almost identicle white snip on her nose! Your boy is a beauty! maybe in a couple of years time....

Icons caught my eye before and not just for his colour! But I thought he might be a little big - she really is tiny? He's a beauty though and a palomino is tempting.....

iirc Icon is about 15.3

one of my mares is a smidge under 13hh and is AAx and has foaled happily to a 14.1, 15.2 and is currently in foal to a 15.1

she has got a good pelvis/ribcage for foal room though and none of the stallions were 'heavy'

There are some nice small TB's (Sally's May1) for instance, this would give you an AA which do very well. Or you could use a small Trak which means you could put your mare forward for grading & reg with the Traks society as they accept TB, Arabs & AA so long as pedigree can be proven & they are reg with the relevant societies.
