im preparing my 16hh welsh cob section d for the show ring. i was wondering if any of u had any tips on how i can get him 'beefy' in a way and how to get muscle on his neck and body!! as he is a big horse he is 5yrs old and only just started to fill out!! i would be greatfull for any advice!! i live in a rural spot in wales and posh, 'high class' feeds are a bit out of my reach and budget. so i was wondering if u could give me some old remedies or tips!! thank you

Feeding the right stuff can help but really you are talking about topline & building up muscle & this can only be done by working your horse & the muscle tone will come. Sorry there is no quick fix for this.

As other replies hun. You could stuff him with treacle sandwiches and cake which would make him fat but that's not the same as a super hunk rippling with muscles! Fittening work will build his muscles which will give him a fabulous topline. If you feel he's a little light for a heavyweight, any feed that gives him more calories than he is expending will put on weight. If he's anything like my section D he'll eat just about anything!

I have to agree, lots of hill work and schooling will help him better than anything

however, global herbs do sell a supplement called 'Muscle up'

Global herbs also do a moneyback garentee although they don't really shout about this!

I feed my mare Spillers Conditioning fibre and it has made such a difference to her, she looks amazing.
