My cob mare, who is Dolly Partonesque in stature, is far too big for her current rain rug (i.e. real lightweight) which she inherited from my slenderer TB. I will have to get her a new one as she's bursting out; her middle weight and heavy turnout rugs are both Mark Todds, which are fantastic because they are very generously cut. Does anyone have experience of MT rain rugs and, if so, how do you rate them? Her current rain rug is a Rhino, but it is very sparingly cut though it is, technically, the right size.

Not had one myself but down at the Saddlery Rug Sale a few days ago and the MT lightweights were being slated for leaking. I wouldn't buy one.

Bought one for my lad - it has never leaked, but has torn at the chest and the chest clips gave out. Not impressed.

He's not hard on his rugs - we have 7 year old rugs that have been on all winter every year.

I bought the Mark Todd Autumner and have been very impressed with it.
It has not leaked once through all this torrential rain and fits lovely :D

Love my lightweight Mark Todd fits brill on my Welsh Cob x Arab, never a problem and it's about ten years old had it forever.

Got a Amigo rug for the TB that is just as good.

My light and medium weights are a little aged but fine but in this torrential rain everything seems to be struggling. There was another post which said you needed to go a very high denier to ensure your rug is really watertight and not just showerproof so I would look at that. I do like the Premier Equine range as all our grass liveries are in them and they are really hard on their rugs and they are standing up well to all this rain.

I have Fals for mine (both of whom are quite large!) and had to go up a size for their outdoor rugs but for everything else they are both spot on for 6.6"

I've just brought the Mark Todd Medium and heavy weights and they are the biggest 6'6's I have ever seen lol lovely rugs though

Not had an outdoor Mark Todd one but I haven't heard anything bad about them. I have one of his medium weight stable rugs and it's fab, a really nice fit and had no problems with it. Had it for years now.
