Having embarked on the long exciting but scary quest for a new horse, was if wondering if anybody has had any experience, good or bad, with these dealers??

Shannon Equestrian in Cheshire and Alex Ashman near Alsager.

After reading some of the horror stories on here thought it would be best to find out before contacting them

PM if you want..............thanks

Not sure if they are linked but there used to be a dealer in Alsager called Oakhanger and personally I'd avoid. Not sure about other one - are they in Warrington by any chance?

Agree Mike Jones would be worth a try.

Ooh thanks for this, not come across him before. Hope the horses for sale on his website are up to date 'cos there is one there that really takes my fancy. He doesn't seem to ask silly money either. Will give him a ring over the weekend..........cheers!

I think you're talking about man with an Irish sounding surname?

I bought my first from him. Returned that, exchanged for another that turned out to be a headshaker and then returned that for the final one that was a little unlevel after owning for a couple of weeks. Turned out he had an old bone chip fracture of the fetlock that could't handle regular work.

I cut my losses as each horse cost more and each horse had more problems than the time before.

I have heard of Alex Ashman. She used to live close to me before moving back to her family home near to the other Oakhanger dealer. Don't know much about what she sells though.

OMG just heard about this Forum at the show today. Alex Ashman horses has nothing to do with the Oakhanger dealer you will be on about please do not get us confused. Thanks everyone and I think this is a great idea as long as everyone has their facts right.

I saw your username and instantly knew it must be you Alex as I recognised the numberplate. :)

I did point out you only lived close to t'other dealer. ;)

Our paths crossed, but not due to horses really. I am the farmer's wife who called you when Hugo followed us home from a hack a couple of years ago.

Ah thanks you my lovely Hugo, he died a couple of months ago I was totally heartbroken and miss him loads.

Yes I'm often worried I get mixed up with the other dealer round the corner. I have one here just now for schooling that he supplied to a young girl that is a little nappy and sour. I don't know how they manage it.

I don't do the sales patter the horses I sell speak for themselves now, no lies or bull****, best to be honest, and I love hearing how well their all going I get a real buzz from that.

Oh I have a new beagle now, so if you see him on your travels.

Awww I'm sorry to hear you lost Hugo recently. I know how heartbreaking that is as we lost our Spaniel last year but also have a new puppy now.

I don't hack as far out as you live now but I do ride past your place on my bike. It's all part of the mammoth keep fit plan! ha ha

I have heard that the possibly confusion between you and the other chap might soon end as I hear he's moving? I didn't see that coming and was quite shocked when I saw their place up for sale.

Good luck with the re-schooling of the nappy one.
