Any ways of shrinking a splint?

One of my 3 year old TBs came with a massive splint, a bit above half way up his cannon. He's never raced but was in training for a matter of months, which I imagine is when it happened. It's cold and hard now, and he's very sound but I wondered if anyone knows of any ways of minimising splints? I know it's not easy, but I've heard of (probably old wives tales) things that make fracture lumps on humans decrease, and I'm sure there must be some old techniques/recipes out there to try! It's not a big deal, but I would like to sell him this year and it stands out a bit on an otherwise very handsome and blemish free body!

I know our vet would just suggest cold therapy and bandaging. My parents used to use a wonderful smelling liquid called bone radial, but i couldnt confirm it actually reduced the size of the lump.

My vet gave me Compagel to use on our youngsters fresh splint, I'm not sure if it would help on a formed splint that had 'set' though.

As Apache warlord has said, it will flatten out eventually and with a little careful grooming it can be hidden for showing purposes.

Radiol can work - if it is still available. Sometimes splints will just get smaller anyway, especially with a young horse.

Google 'splintex' - there are 2 versions, one for established splints and one for newly formed ones.

Have no idea it it works though!
