I’ve just bought a little spotty job for my daughter, and the name on her passport is Welsh. I was wondering if anyone here could give a rough translation of it, and how to pronounce it?
It’s Bwlchclawdd Alaw. I’m afraid I wouldn’t know where to start with that!

Bwlchclawdd is the stud name. Bwlch Clawdd is Wales. Pronunciation at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/...mes_of_cities_and_villages_in_Carmarthenshire

From Google 'Alaw is a feminine name of Celtic origin. It comes from Afon Alaw, a river in Anglesey. The rivers name is said to mean 'Melodious'. The name is not common outside of Wales but it can be found. It is pronounced 'AH-low' with the 'low' pronounced to rhyme with 'how' and 'now'.

Beat me to it... Bwlch Clawdd is a place not far from Swansea, The word bwlch means a pass, and clawwd means a earth dike, boundary, trench.

Alaw can mean water lilly or a melody, a tune.
