I'd suggest Simco as a good mid price brand you can pick up at reasonable prices over here. I ride one of my criollos (a narrow one) in an ebay bargain Simco. It was £160, sad, neglected, dirty, and a poor photo and listing. I took a chance, and it's been fantastic for 3 years now. Lovely quality once cleaned up, fits him and me perfectly. I've had another couple of Simcos through my hands (which haven't fitted so I've sold on) - good quality no fuss saddles.

My friend uses a Mattes pad which is lambswool I think then a think blanket on top. She has a Pullman saddle and an Equiflex, both quite expensive but lovely quality.
