Any worries about fast soaking feeds for lamis/cushings/fatties?

I have cobs prone to fatness but no history of lami and kept in a huge hilly field of pretty poor grass in a large herd so they tend to be fine. I avoid mollasses and alfalfa and try to keep sugar+starch around 7%. They both get tiny feeds for the sake of supplements so I probably shouldn't fuss too much anyway.

I currently feed Allen and Page Fast Fibre and sometimes Speedibeet. However, I was wondering whether e.g. traditional sugarbeet has the same metaboilic effects as a fast soaking sugarbeet, anyone know of some research? In my mind it could be the equivalent of Oat-so-Simple versus traditional porridge oats, or a smoothie versus eating the fruit that went into it - they have the same ingredients and nutritional values but in humans the metabolic effects are very different so I expect thye are in horses too.

Its easy enough to switch back to the more 'whole foods' version but obviously the fast soaking is more convenient, just wondered whether anyone had looked into this? I often see the quick soaking ones recommended on lami and cushings discussions.

Cheers.

Oat so simple etc has added sugar, it's not the same as porridge oats. With beet it's more like the difference in cooking a whole carrot vs a chopped one. By chopping (shredding) the starting product you increase the surface area and reduce the te it takes to make it edible

I def used to eat an OSS that was just oats, must have been a diet version!

Agreed but even just grating a carrot changes the way your body uses it a little, not as bad as mincing it up in a blender into juice. So same thing really, making it faster to absorb and changing the metabolic reaction.
