Either training, hunter trials, pick a fence, ode's - anything would do.

Due to 'issues' we have missed out on the whole of April and would really like something resembling xc practice before Scotsburn.

I'm in Elgin, so would travel 60 miles or so in any directions

Thanks vvv muchly.

Me again

I presume that youve looked at moray riding club website, and the local pony clubs. david gatherer is doing xc training in may at gleneagles but that might be too far away for you!

There is a place that you can hire in aberdeenshire cannae remember the name but it begins with a B! Or have a look at brechin castle equestrian websie theyve got plenty on xc wise if your really stuck

Sorry for the short reply - just realised the time gotta dash got a sj lesson with DG at oatridge at lunchtime, duh!

thanks again missypp. Moray riding clubs last event prior to burgie was yesterday.

Scotsmare - Tahuna is a doable distance (nearly 2 hours though) would be interested in that one if that's the only one.

brechin would be about 3 hours or so in a trailer, so that's a little far for me.

Hi i see that Buchan Riding Club are having a Hunter Pace at Philorth - Fraserburgh on 17th May. Super course, excellent run. Info on web page Buchanrc.co.uk

You are my HEROES. I was thinking I could hire balquholly the weekend of the 16th/17th. only thing is I would rather not go by myself and a lot of people are busy then so not sure if I could rally people from the yard/an instructor.

So if I can't find an instructor - I could go to philorth instead, I could always go twice and treat as training.

(any cheapish instructors local to that area on here?)

For training with an instructor, Balquholly is the one as it's all grouped together and you get value for money with the no. of jumps.

You can also hire Knock Farm I believe which is a great track, and there is a Deveron pony club ODE there on the 24th which could be a good practise for Scotsburn?

Just my opinion but I would not travel 2hours to Tahuna. (sorry if you love it!)

I have done training at the knock before and it's being used for area 22 horse trials on 7th June. Are there any rules about not being able to ride on the course so many weeks before an event, or is that just BE?

Did you go to Burgie yesterday? I heard they are now keeping Polly's playground open for schooling so you could always try ring the yard.

I might be interested in coming with you if you go to Balquholly. I am being very hopeful that the Dick Vet will find out what is wrong with my horse and I can get him ready for Area. Although I can't see it happening.

yep i was there having a nose. quite a short windy course with everything being fenced off for June, but still looked fun. I wish i had been riding.

i hadn't heard that about pollys playground. that would be ideal!. I'll have a word with jane.

Much better than hoofing all the way to fraserburgh or turriff. If I organise something for balquholly though i'll give you a shout.
