Should they be quite a subtle smell? I was led to believe theyd throw loads of scent out to fill the room ? Just got my first one, Midsummer Night. Smells like aftershave lol .
Apparently some smell rank and others lovely so I suppose it's s question of finding the scent you like.

Jumps up and down! Me!

I like the fruits and florals though, and quite a lot of the food ones :o Not so keen on the ones like you are talking about. Too stinky.

I'm a sniffer... I go in the shop, and sniff them for ages before I decide.
They are lovely, but you do have to like the smell, obviously. I am sitting here looking at a Black Cherry one, and a Vanilla cupcake one.
The clean linen ones are nice too, although they do some nice berry/ mulled wine type ones for winter.
Trial and error, I would say, but I'd never buy one if I couldn't smell it first. They are too expensive not to like.

I'm another who lurks around the yankee candle section smelling them all! I always ask for them if people are stuck with birthday/xmas gifts as there are so many lovely scents to try. My favourites are garden sweetpea, white gardenia & pink sands - I also have the car gels which are very effective (but don't make the mistake I did of leaving them in the car on a sunny day - goo everywhere!)x

We always have the christmas spice one burning in reception over the christmas holidays - lasts for ages and really scents the room - huge Georgian building with 12 ft high ceilings so impressive. I have the crisp linen one and home and just uncork it every so often - pathetically I don't want to burn it as I like it too much... All this for a candle ?!?!?!
