I've had to stop poo picking especially to write this.

I am in the SW, not far from the coast, the horses have been brought in for breakfast and are oblivious to the fact that I'm out in the paddocks absolutely being eaten alive by the little barstewards.

And there was me naively assuming that the cold snap this week would have killed them off.

Anyone else being feasted upon, or am I especially toothsome? Hideous.

Yep ... in the Midlands and my highland has given himself a DIY hog in his efforts to scratch his neck. In spite go my better efforts and the application of endless repellants and anti itch stuff, he's now mane-less along about 10 inches of neck. Heartbreaking, and very annoying. Blimmin" things. We need a bit of proper winter to get rid of them.

Any time the temperature goes over 11 - 12 degrees they will start flying. I have seen midges on Xmas day! Both my sweet itch boys are back in their fly rugs today, and neither want to be out, so they are in very contentedly munching away. Please can we have some frost?
