My 2 horses and every other horse on our yard seem to be enjoying the sun a bit too much!

my supposed plod of a cob threw my mum off in walk trot test today! then when tied up on trailer pulled loose and ran around show ground with tail up, snorting for 10 mins. then when somebody tried to get him in tonight he ran off, then when person put headcollar on he decided to run away yet again!

Then my other horse is full of beans, everytime we go out decides to bounce around and is constantly looking for trouble!

anybody elses horse full of the joys of spring??
 
Yes!! My normally laid back ID x has been bouncing round like a loon on the way to the field and then charging round all day. Even our very aged miniature is bucking like crazy..
 
Ah yes - my TB was feeling rather high spirited on Thursday and decided to jump a socking great hedge out of his field onto the farm road followed by a 5 bar gate and then galloped round the farm like a loon. I called him and he came trotting over as if to say "thank god you've come to get me in". He is SUPPOSED to be having 4 weeks R&R to get his back muscles back to normal. Eejit horse!!
 
It must be something in the grass, my 17hh wb has been a handful and a yob since Thursday, he is usually such a lazy moo!LOL
 
Yes - my mare (been lame due to taking a huge chunk of hoof wall out) behaved like tigger in the school but then was a complete angel on our hack!!

Yes, my boy is feeling very well. Lots of bouncing, and not much appreciation of the steady work he is supposed to be having.
 
I was going to do a post like this yesterday as my normally sensible IDx mare decided to jog the whole ride, plunge when a lorry dared drive past and nearly ran over a hiker dont know who was pulling the funniest face him or me?
 
Oh, I feel a bit better now, had to hop off mine yesterday when he took exception to a farmer on a quad bike and started spinning and snorting, took ages to settle down again but was edgy for the rest of the hack. How long do we think this is going to last, call me boring if you like but I prefer nice, quiet, uneventful hacks!!

Daughter and I rode out this morning and both horses bucked and shot off in the most unlikely place!! They most definitely think that spring is in the air

Yes we had motorbikes, and we were spinning big time so I just got off and led her past a bit and got back on

my friends 20 year old mare was galloping round this morning like a youngster!! she is obviously feeling good! she rarely joins in games but was playing tag with the baby and my boy today

Yep everything on my yard has been acting like they have rocket fuel up their rear ends since Friday, even the two old horses have been full of the joys of spring. We had our first lamb born today, she is really sweet, only 6 more too go.
 
Yes, bucking and galloping and rearing in the field and doing pretty much the same when lunged/ridden too except the rearing thank goodness.

I wonder why? Have all the horses formed a cunning plan and are trying to confuse us?
 
I am so glad this thread is up. Mine was a loon today, p|ssed off with me 4 times on a 4 hour ride, the last time he tried to take me over a massive wire filled hedge and nearly had me off.

Has the weather this year had something to do with the grass being extra potent or something?
 
hahaha fantastic glad im not the only one.

well our grass still hasn't come out and its still muddy and horrible so can't b that. maybe they do just like the sun and after all the cold weather we've had they are just feeling a bit happy. quite cute really.... apart from when we're on their backs and their clicking their heels together!
 
Spring in their step syndrome?? A normal 2hr hack that we do on a regular basis took 1hr 20mins today! Definetely more enthusiastic and elongated paces than normal! (I think she is coming into season too, coz lots of neighing when we returned to the yard, which is not the norm)

Mine is being a right pain at the mo, only in the field though gallops round like a loony while her field mate watches her!
Ridden wise she is being very good if a little bouncy when hacking! (oh and we had to have a discussion about stopping after a canter out hacking today)
 
O boy am I glad its not just Ellie that feeling the benefits of sunshine, being naked and coming into season

She was tarting it up for the boys on Thursday to the point I had to get off and lead her past as she wasn't going to move for toffee

Last night he was spooking at his own shadow in the stable, totally fine when I was riding him and the floodlights in the indoor create loads of huge moving shadows.
