I've got an 18 month old gelding who I now need to sell unfortunately. He's a lovely chap but has had hardly any handling. He's stabled each night but is more like a large dog and follows my other pony in and out each day and likes a fuss. You can get a head collar on him with a little gentle persuasion, although he appears scared, I am certain he's not, he just thinks I'm stupid. He will also lead once you've got a head collar on. I did some work with him at the beginning of the year you see but not since.

Can anybody recommend anybody who would be willing (paid work obviously!) to come and work with him a few times a week to teach him the ground work basics e.g. picking feet up, to wear a rug, leading, catching and just general everyday things like grooming too OR if there is anybody on here would be able.

I do not have the time nor the motivation or patience but would like him to find a good home which he deserves as he'll be a very promising competition horse for somebody.

I'm based in Shropshire, he's kept at home not on livery which is why I'm reluctant to send him away.

If anybody could help, I'd be eternally grateful!

Charlie Lloyd, based at Park Farm in Quatt is absolutely excellent with starting, breaking, backing and schooling horses. He takes on young horses or problem horses.

I know he's very busy at the moment but may be able to help you get your boy started with the basics and he would be a great person to help you sell him (when the time comes) as he won't sell horses to the wrong person. He gives the viewer chance to see the horse in every situation to make sure they are completely happy but also assesses their ability, needs and suitability to the horse before letting them buy it.

PM me if you'd like his number.

Thank you for the recommendation :)

Does he come out to people though do you know? If he's busy I mean, I'm near Walford College so not exactly next door you see!

He does yep! That is quite far but still worth chatting to him. He might be able to recommend someone else if he can't fit you in. I know he'll try his best for you either way.

I can second Charlie Lloyd for breaking and schooling in Shropshire. He's the best in the area in my opinion. He has a great way with youngsters or difficult horses. He's done a lot of work for me in the past and I would highly recommend him.

It's not breaking/schooling I'm looking for. He's only 18 months old but hopefully he can help!
