im in chelsfield and i will be doing part livery end of summer when my stable are put up, but field livery nowand im just the other side of crockenhill near swanley.
There are a few nice ish yards in the Bexley/ North Cray area but you gotta be prepared for lots of kids hairing around on ponies!! Alternatively there is Preston Farm which is Eynsford way which is very nice. Im currenlty stabled at the Arrow near Bluewater which is full livery or hunter livery, not sure you could push them to assisted DIY but you never know! It is a great yard with superb facilities.
I used to be at the Arrow, and it's good if you want the facilities, but not so good if you like riding out. Once you're off the parkland, which isn't very big, you have to negotiate the road through Darenth/Dartford main road, and even when you get off that there aren't any bridleways for miles. I used to dive up the edge of a field to get to Horton Kirby, but the farmer was really nasty if he caught anyone!
I'm not sure what sort of deals they do at Speedgate, but the hacking from there is much better than from Eaglesfield, as you go straight out on to the farm ride. The hacking round Eaglesfield is a bit hair raising.
There is a nice yard almost opposite the bottom of Speedgate Hill, I think it's called White Horse Stables (or White House??). They do an assisted DIY deal, which is full on weekdays and DIY at weekends, but last time I visited they had employed someone to help at weekends.
It might also be worth looking around the Cobham area, because since they opened up Jeskyn's Farm the hacking in that area has got a lot better.
If you go a bit further afield, just as far as Crouch (near Borough Green) the hacking is brilliant.
I am stabled in fawkham 2 mins from longfield.
i cannot recommend the hacking enough, you can go for miles on the lanes and if you buy a pass for the northdown country club you can ride on the local farms.
if hacking is important to you i would definatley look in hartley longfield, horton kirby, new barn, fawkham, enysford, farningham (www.chapelwoodequestrian.co.uk or .com)
or eaglesfield as someone said although im not sure if you get much grazing there, and you have to pay to use the indoor school so if you school alot could work out expensive. its also a very busy comp centre that has comps nearly every weekend so thats definately something to consider, it doesnt look like a quiet yard to me. www.eaglesfield.net
there is speedgate (where im at) the bottom yard is DIY and the top yard is 5 day full, w/end DIY. the top yard has one person on the waiting list for a stable and i believe the bottom is full also.
bexley and local areas - hmm well any yard ive been to in that area has been full of kids bombing around like nutters and i know personally i couldnt tolerate that as i cant stand most kids!! on *some* yards (i stress, not all) strangles is common and so are tack thefts etc.
there are a few yards advertised in areas very near to longfield that sound nice and have good hacking, theres a lot advertised normally on the board in the feedbarn of speedgate saddlery
