I usually dress them with christmas leg wraps and rugs and bridle and rein sleeves and even hats, but non will be donned this year

Yep, have done! Usually for hunting and have done for a christmas dressage show.
Usually I plait and then tinsel around the plaits, sorry for the poor quality photos

My Christmas ride is on Sunday and I am making an effort this year.

It is basically the same red sheet from my profile picture, but I have sewn bead, small apple shaped baubles and some bells onto it. i Have also made covers for the brow and nose band, in red with bells on, and sewn a Santa hat onto an old silk.

Still have some material left so if I have time I may make some leg wraps too. Oh, he has some antlers with bells on too

I will post a picture after Sunday.

Our yard tinsel ride is on Sunday..... but in the meantime, this is one of mine from last year.... (I should also say that I didn't ride him without a hard hat... we went out in-hand and I just hopped on him when we got back for a couple of photos.... hence the wellies, too!)

I've been hacking mine in their festive gear for the last week. It isn't very adventurous though, a red/white noseband cover with bells, I've got a 'santa style' hat cover and we have battery lights hair clipped into the mane I have tinselled around my hi vis neck band in the past too.

Coblover how did you attach the tinsel in the tail? Mine would swish that out or get in a knot!

I put a band in a tuft of tail hair at the top and then looped a ribbon through and tied a bow. I'd already joined all the tinsel together so it was only one loop needed. It held really well.

They look like sleeves off a stripey top - so shouldn't be too hard to make, it's just getting them on the horse that might cause a lot of 'fun'!
