Love them. I have had one on trial for a couple of months and love it, my new one is getting delivered this week! I also can't fault their UK stockist Sederholm's customer service. They brought a selection of saddles out to me to try and determined the right fit for my horse and for me. I did have the saddle fit checked by my regular saddle fitter as reassurance and she was very happy with it. Further I made sure I had my horses back checked by my girl's regular chiropractor after having trial saddle for over 6 weeks, she said her back was looking the best she'd ever seen it. I find the saddles make my lower leg position much more secure and I feel happy jumping my very scopey big moving horse in it. I love the different options of seat depth and knee block style they offer so you can pick what suits you best as a rider .
That said whilst Butets are fabulous I was more limited in the saddles that worked for me due to a very long thigh bone, and indeed Butets are the only ones I tried that did a forward cut enough model for me, so if you are more of a regular shape you may find a saddle you love that suits you as well for less £££.
Ps my biggest 'problem' with my saddle if you can even really call it a problem was trying to find tack to match Butet's Gold colour (I fancied a change from Havanna, and it does look stunning on a dark bay, but if wanting matching tack its not as easy!).
Thankyou, really useful info. We've been trying to find a saddle for my slim daughter's native 14hh. She does local level jumping and wants to do more cross country and maybe ODE. I don't think I'll ever persuade my daughter to sell her so we might as well invest in a good quality saddle. I could never afford a new one but have seen a second hand one that's been well looked after and should fit subject to saddlers checks etc
I do love Butets though the price tag on new makes me cringe! (Couldn't find what I needed second hand). I will be keeping my eye on the market for a second hand one in 17.5 inch for my other horse though! A second hand one would definitely be worth trying and having looked at by a saddle fitter. Bear in mind Butets can feel completely different to ride in dependent on seat/ blocks - I could barely stay in a second hand flat seat model with no blocks that we tried on my mare, but I feel super secure in a semi deep seat with blocks (even though the blocks aren't huge).
If thats no use, or you want to try another make you could try an equipe synergy? I've had one for years and loved it, I just ended up slightly outgrowing it (I'm just under 6ft and still use it on my little mare). Mines around 5 years old now used pretty much daily and still looks good. They are significantly cheaper than Butet but still good leatherwork and nicely made saddles IMO.
Ps don't know if thats where you saw the saddle you mentioned, but Sederholm also sell second hand Butets. May be a good option for peace of mind knowing they've checked the used saddle over .
