Anyone/anywhere near Newbury with decent hacking and with horsebox parking?

Why not run up the A34 and park on the Ridgeway at West Ilsley. Big parking area and the world is your oyster for hacking from there.

Thanks for the response Sprig. I do already go to the Ridgeway with my older pony and you are right, it is fabulous up there. But I'm looking for somewhere where the parking is in a slightly more enclosed area (eg farm yard etc) as I have a young horse and just feel a little vulnerable as the Ridgeway car parks are unfenced and go straight onto quite fast roads (well the ones I've used so far are).

What about by me? I'm bucklebury. Lots of off road hacking, fields, woods, rivers and fords to cross.

Thanks Charlie that sounds lovely - are there some good parking places? I'm still relatively new to the area (just over 2 years of having horses in Berkshire) so don't know the area terribly well, but do know the road running through Hermitage, Yattendon, Ashampstead and then onto Pangbourne/Basildon area.

thanks Pauline. I'll check the books out. I have looked at both the endurance and TREC sites and there's nothing very local to me. TBH I really only want to hack once or twice a week, in the week as I tend to do dressage and clinics at the weekends. I'm a reluctant hacker really, but it's good for the horses. :)
