hi all

i spent a very cold weekend at hartpury, and whilst there, i stumbled across a bay mare, who i think was called akira, or arika. i don't know if she was a college horse or a loan horse (we're just given a list of horses to treat, with no history etc)

she had a loss of use stamp next to her freezemark.

anyway, i'm really interested in finding out about her. some history, anything. from treating her, it 'felt' like she'd perhaps been a jumper, and injured her near hind (cannon was bowed and damaged). anyway, does anyone know anything about her?

i actually think i fell in love with her. it's random, i don't usually 'click' with mares, and vice versa... but i'm home now, and can't stop thinking about her.

i really hope she has a lovely owner who loves her, rather than being a generic college horse... anyone?

Why don't you ring the college and ask the yard manager? I used to go to Hartpury (few years ago so can't help you) but I do know they used to sell the odd horse on their yard and sometimes the horses they have on loan are for sale. My friend brought one of them actually while I was there. Even if she's not for sale or not owned by the college you may be able to get the owners details after all there's nothing wrong with asking! :)

...if they said she was for sale, i'd think it was fate... and i've just sent my (very loved) horse off on loan because i just don't have the time for him at the moment...

i think part of me wants to hear that she's got a lovely owner, is very loved, isn't being jumped/galloped... and that she likes to buck a lot. cos then i'll know she's looked after... but won't want to go and steal her myself... ;)

you daft moo, why on earth did you just ask me??? lol

Arika - shes owned by the stud as said above and has come onto college loan this year, she has had i think 2 foals, and is loss of use as you said (cant remember why) but she is very sweet although can be very mareish especially when being girthed up but ses a sweetie really very very cute shes a belgian warmblood going from the brand she has lol

anything else i can help you with dear?

:p xxxx
