Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but i thought id ask.

I get married in 5 months (YeY!) and we are in the last stages of booking our honey moon. Looks like we're going to be spending a few days in Texas and hopefully on a Ranch. Has anyone been somewhere they could recommend?

I'd love to see pictures too!!

Thanks, N x

Hi, I went to the Tanque Verde ranch for a family holiday. It was quite a while ago but from what I remember of it it was really enjoyable. They had lots of activites in the night, we learnt how to make lasoos etc! It's not in Texas but Arizona. It had a swimming pool and the breakfast was really nice as far as I remember. I can post a couple of pics later but dont have anything too exciting. Oh and the place we stayed in was lovely. Maybe it's not really suitable for a honeymoon type holiday but this is the site: http://www.tanqueverderanch.com/

it was on my list of things to do before i'm 30... now i'm 32 it's moved onto list of things to do before i die...

i think it sounds excellent! x

cant help about ranches in Texas but last year we spent 5 days on a ranch in Canada (British Columbia) and it was FAB! Highly recommend it - even my totally non-horsey hubby who had previously ridden twice before in his life loved it and was cantering up hills by the end of the holiday

Enjoy!!

There are excellent ranches in southern Texas (around Bandera) , but If you're getting married in July, I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a honeymoon as it is extremely hot -about 40deg. Worth chatting to one of the specialist companies such as Ranch Rider or American Roundup to see what they suggest. These ranches do have lots of other activities for when it is too hot to ride - we stayed at one near Dallas www.wildcatterranch.co.uk and they had fishing, canoeing, archery, shooting, quad bike tours, a fantastic spa and the best infinity pool and hot tub I've ever been in. As well as a great restaurant. But we only rode once while we were there as it was 30deg plus and that was the end of April!
I guess it depends how much riding you want to do.
Have a FANTASTIC time - I absolutely love Texas and am very jealous!
