If you are near Matlock, there used to be a good tack shop near Ashbourne, above a petrol station.
Used to be an absolute treasure trove, is that still there?
A bit far for you maybe but Hoof Aloof near Mansfield also used to stock a good range.
Have been to the Glasgow one, they seem to have fair number of hats in stock and I know they can order in from other branches if they dont have what you are looking for.
Been to the so-called "flagship store" in Wrightington a couple of times. I shan't bother going again, enough said.
Stock levels were absolutely appalling "oh we can order it from the warehouse" - kind of defeats the object when you want to try something on before buying it.
I'd find a local tackshop andn give them the business instead.

No the one above the petrol station has moved and changed names, its now called Meynell saddlery and is on the main rd just before Ashbourne.
If you go to the main Derby House store off the M6 you can do a joint trip into Robinsons on the other side of the M6 a couple of junctions away. Between the two, you'll never find a better selection of hats to try. Great food at both - posh food at DH, cheap food at Robbies!
I've been to the matlock one and wasn't very impressed.
The one above the petrol station was Hulland Saddlery and was amazing, I had loads of stuff from there when I was a kid. They are now on the A52 near Brailsford, and are called Meynall Saddlery, I haven't been in since they opened there though.
A few other places in that sort of area are, Kick On which is near McArthur Glenn on the A38 near Mansfield, Spondon Saddlery just outside Derby, Risley Saddlery at Risley which is near Junction 25 of the M1 and The Equestrain at Idridgehay.
None of them are particularly big or great but do have good helpful staff. For expert advice The Equestrain would probably be my first choice, for selection probably spondon or risley.
There is also a place called RE Farms on the cattle market at Derby, it is massive and tends to be cheap but the service is variable and the returns policy pretty ropey! Lots of choice though.
Barleyfields Equestrian Centre have a saddlery but I haven't been in there since it changed hands, I think they stock a lot of shires stuff. Do phone and check their opening hours though as i think it is quite limited. I think Eland lodge have a shop too.
