They've got a hunter trial there next month. Just wondering if anyone's been there recently and knows whether it's OK or not?

I haven't been for years. It always used to be fine, nothing special but acceptable to have a quick wizz round.

Would be doing the open course.

Thanks for any info :-)

Not been for years but might come with you - what date is it??

I was wondering if that hunter trial was on we went to last year was on - at Wivelsfield green.....that was the one where the 2'6 was like a mini Badminton :p. Can't remember who ran it though.....

It's the week before Borde Hill BE, 23rd May.

The Wivelsden Farm one is on-

Should be the link to the schedule :-)

The Wivelsden farm one is the week before but I'm entered for Chilham unaff ODE that weekend already.

Depending on how she's going, the plan was to *maybe* enter Borde Hill PN so I thought I should get a bigger XC run in before that and the East Bysshe says it's 3ft-3ft 3.

If East Bysse is what it used to be like its all huge hedges with drops that make the jump bigger than you on landing side!!! Last time i went there was also a trakhena which was actually over a gigantic ravine type thing - i took the long route!!! Nothing difficult - just scary!

I think i'm going to do Mattingley BE that weekend. My original plan was BH PN too but looking unlikely now with all these stupid set backs.

The week before that is my hen do so won't be competing on that one :) :)

Yes, just as I posted that reply I remembered it was Mattingly the same weekend.

Think I'll see how she's going and then decide whether I'm going to attempt the PN, and if I am then think I'll need to enter East Bysshe for another XC run beforehand.

Sounds interesting though. I've done the 2ft9 there years ago and it was fine, just haven't been there recently so don't know whether they've kept it nice or it's deteriorated.

All I remember of East Byshe is that it had the deepest water I've ever come across! Not been for years, but it was a good old fashioned Hunter Trial course - couple of wide ditches and gappy oxers too!

Same here, not been for years but remember it being a bit like that.

Not of BE standard at all but perfectly jumpable.

I think (from looking back through old posts on here) that they've taken the water out? Not sure though

We were meant to go there last weekend but the course was closed due to the ground :( Hopefully going this Saturday instead :)
From what I've heard they apparently took the water out and turned it into a sunken road type thing?!?!?

Ooh, if you go (and you remember!), can you let me know what it's like?

Suppose it's a good sign that they closed it because of the ground, at least we know they're looking after it! :-)

I shall do :) Will try and get some pics up later as off down the yard now! ;) My normal "photographer" AKA mum (!) can't come on Sunday but I will no doubt do a report and will report back on what the fences are like :)
Hopefully it will stay dry and the course will be open again!
