We have been today and it was great (if a bit cold!).

The in hand classes were fab but the harness classes were even better. These horses are so lovely. Want one now!

Tempted to go along tomorrow too.

We went a few years ago and had intended to this year ( its on my calendar) but weather, especially Peterborough has put us off.
It is a sight to behold though especially the grand parade, the ground literally shakes. Superb to watch.
I really love the Shires and had a Shire mare few years back.

I went today, as I have done for 18 years. There was quite a bit about today's show that left me very disappointed. The catalogue entry numbers were all screwed up, to the point that I didn't even bother correcting them...I decided to wait until the show report is printed in the Heavy Horse World magazine and the SHS Newsletter. I knew most of the older horses by sight, but seeing such major mistakes in the catalogue, it made me wonder what a mess it will be for those people unfamiliar with the horses when they quote the 'winners' to other interested parties. There's an undercurrent of unrest within the membership of the Society regarding the subject of colour genetics as it applies to a particular stallion that has been licensed, but in reality, should be gelded. Added to that, there were several stallions that, clearly, should never have been approved (today was stallion day). But, many of the horses I saw were breathtaking and beautifully produced. I was so cold that I didn't stay for the championship. This year's show is the last one at Peterborough. The Society is moving its headquarters to purpose built facilities at Rockingham Castle. Next year's Spring Show will take place at Arena UK in Lincolnshire.

I didnt even know they did one and I do get Whats on in Peterborough showground if thats where it was? Will look out for it next year then.

I viewed a horse last year and the owners had a huge lanky youngster. What a friendly young lad he was. But a giant(I think he was 18h or something daft like that). Seemed to have a lovely nature and yes I came away wanting one of those instead of the horse I had gone to see.

It was at Peterborough, but it won't be there next year. The show will be at Arena, UK.

Most of the senior stallions (5 years and older) are 18h plus.
