anyone bought a horse untired over phone

yes, i bought a new forest filly in2001 at 20 months. she bit and kicked a huge attitude it took best part of 5 years to bring her to my way of thinking. has turned out to be a cracking little mare.i hope to never part with her. last year i bought another one over the phone again.she was 13 months she's such a sweet little thing, though i had seen pics of her, when we went to pick her up she was so small i wondered why we had bought a trailer with us. we could have sat her on a booster seat in the back of the truck! i might possibly have to drive her if shes not big enough for my daughter or me to ride, but time will tell

I did

He turned out to be what I wanted at a time.
I think it depends - I bought him to sell on so didn't need a horse I felt in tune with. If I was looking for a horse for myself I would want to see it/ride it myself.

We bought a 4 year old TB mare unseen - didn't even see a photo - she was just going cheap and sounded as if she could make a decent little riding horse. Within days of her arriving (10 hour drive for her) she turned out to have a fantastic racing bloodline so we decided to keep her. She has produced a stunning filly foal for us and is pregnant again. She cost us £200 and her filly has been valued by bloodstock agents at over £20,000. We don't ever mind buying horses sight unseen - if it's cheap enough, we are happy to take a chance on it for ourselves, or give it time to chill out and re-school for someone else. We've always got people asking for our horses.

WOW! Look's like you got a seriously good deal. Lucky thing.

Yes, I bought my Welsh Cob untried. Basically I couldnt find a big welsh cob (I wanted a 15.2hh) so I heard of a 3yo in Wales. I didnt fancy travelling all that way (Im in NE Scotland) so they made me a 20 min video (he was just backed) and he was vetted, then I bought him and had him transported up. But TBH I would never tend to do this, only with a young horse would I consider it as I hope a 3yo hasnt had time to be ruined!

We did, and it was the best thing we could ever have done, got a truly fantastic horse as a result. Wouldn't recommend it unless coming from an impeccable source and upon huge personal recommendation though.
