Just browsing on the net as I am wanting to buy a new pair of paddock boots, found the Junior Terrain at a good price direct from the states, just wondering if by the time you pay P&P you may as well bought from over here.

You may get caught for duty by customs and excise too... talk to the company you are thinking about buying them from as they may have experience in selling to the UK market.

I can recomend a tack shop that post to the UK from the states very competative, PM me if you want the details but you can save a lot ( normally helps if you buy a few bits)

I ordered from the States and ended up having to by Tax / Customs charges which brought the overall cost to pretty much the British price.

I suppose it depends if you 'get lucky' and the parcel gets through without Customs & Excise taking an interest.

Mmm knowing my luck no, it was just a thought, might have to go over there for another holiday and disappear to do some serious spending without OH.!

If they post it using DHL or similar you will be charged customs charges as DHL pay and then you pay them. You will need to add an additional (approx) 30% to the cost of the item plus the postage.

Example:

Item £100
Postage£20
Total £120
Customs £36 (30% of £120)

Overall total £156

For expensive but light items it may be cheaper I can't imagine that boots would be.

That's what I'm going to do this summer although with the OH! We're going to visit my family in Canada and I'm going to stock up on Ariat stuff while I'm there. I'm going to get myself a pair of Crowne Pro field boots as they are too expensive to buy over here and I can take advantage of the low Canadian dollar. I'm going there with empty suitcases to say the least!
