Anyone bought this balancer?

id be interested in feedback as well as have come across them. Seem cheaper and contain both pre- and pro biotic which a lot of the lower end balances dont. Am currently on Spillers.

Not used it, and personally I wouldn't, as it has a combined sugar and starch of 20%, plus it's too high in iron and too low in copper, zinc and magnesium. It'd do better than something like TopSpec, though, I expect.

Hmmm mine are also on the Spillers balancer, this one does seem better value BUT they are not giving the spec for the vits and mins so this makes me a little suspicious.

No, 'fraid not. What the major feed companies seem to forget, is that horses get most of their nutrients from forage, rather than specially formulated feed.

So Spillers Lite also suffers from the iron/copper/zinc/magnesium problem. It wouldn't be an issue if uk forage and grazing were perfectly balanced according to the NRC guidelines, but unfortunately they aren't, and tend towards excesses of iron and deficiencies in the others. So feeding a 'balancer' which does not take this into consideration is imo counterproductive.

What I prefer to aim for, is feeding a balancer which goes some way towards correcting the imbalances (I personally feel it's near impossible to correct them entirely whilst the horse gets turn out). This is why I often recommend the product Pro Hoof (and Pro Balance +) as they were formulated with this in mind.
