Just settling down on the sofa after a day's riding, mucking out and general horse sniffing; I have olympia highlights on the telly, the fire is burning brightly, cheese and biscuits on my lap and a bottle of Harvey's Bristol cream on the side table... Anyone care to join me?

Sounds fabulous. I do so miss having a fire :( Our chimneys have to be rebuilt before they're safe enough to light a fire in.

Please can I? My husband and I have spent to day trying to unblock the drains in the yard as we have a swimming pool trying to get into our stables!

I had planned a lovely hack today but the weather was pants anyway so yes please I'd love to join you :D

Would love to but I'm taking Rach for a night out in the town as she doesn't get the chance anymore. Poor Dan will be stuck with begging questions from his mum about marriage and babies...and I'm making him play chauffeur, lol.

Can I pop in later for a night cap?

Of course! I'm not going anywhere and my bottom is planted firmly on the sofa so will be here all night ;)

Oh, shame, Christmas is made for open fires

Yup second year without one :( Although my darling husband did order two tonnes of coal which I have had to move by hand. Twice. The air was blue. He hadn't told me that he'd ordered it or I'd have pointed out that it wasn't going to be a whole lot of use this year. We also have several tonnes of seasoned logs plus a few more seasoning. It doesn't make not having anywhere to burn them feel any better *grump*

Ooh, not good, my MIL has a whole shed full of coal (just in case) and not an open fire in the house! My husband spends his time throughout the year buying coal, logs and oil whether we need it or not... it's like living in South Fork sometimes, I'm sure our oil tank could heat the whole village it's so unnecessarily huge. It's where we keep our money, and I sympathise whole heartedly. Luckily at least I no longer have to help with getting the wood in due to an unfortunate incident with me, my husband, a chainsaw and a spider... shudders at the memory!

Sorry, I taped it (do we say that anymore?!) from the other day, waiting for my moment to watch it in peace ... husband has gone out, children in bed, hound and pussies in front of the fire :)

oh yes, some of us still say 'taped it' :o told the kids to wind something back earlier and they looked at me like i was cockled;)

I sat mine down to watch "it's a wonderful life" my most favourite film ever ever ever; the confusion on their little cherubic faces was a sight to behold along with the quote "er, why is it all grey?"

I'm in. Rach wants to go out tomorrow night now. We're going to watch a film instead. I will put the laptop away but be with you on my phone as slightly more discreet, lol.

Now, where's the margarita.............

Oh excellent, margarita sounds lovely, the acidity will cut through the cheese just perfectly! Do I sound all celebrity chefish?! (made up word alert)

Love made up words :)

Oooh cheese. I was going to have some of my spiced baileys ice cream but that may have to wait until later in favour of some St. Argur and crackers :)

Anyone want some?
