Anyone clipped yet??.

Nope :p I usually wait until middle or end of Sept ... but im dieing to clip, my favorite winter passtime :D Mare will be getting everything bar a saddle patch off, shes never been clipped before so it shall be interesting!! Mines not competing atm but will hopefully have baby pony ready for some comps over winter.

I'm clipping either next week or the following. I clip his legs all year round and they need doing and he is getting too hairy all over so will give him a full clip to stop him getting so sweaty. We have BRC Nationals in a few weeks so need him looking his best :)

Nope!! Still got a wonderful summer coat! Not even propery molted yet. :)

I love my new horse even more! ha ha ha!

My Shetland is being full clipped next week, she is a hairy yak already! Second clip will be a chaser or something like. Other much bigger horses are wooling up so not that far off.

clipped one a couple of weeks ago, he needs doing again, along with a couple of the cushionoid ones! will clip ther ones eventing in sept a couple of days before as they are starting to get broken coats. .. cos the daylight is shrinking rapidly and blackberries are ready!!!

I am so so tempted, but I know if I do it now I'll only have to clip again in two weeks as it's growing out like mad! Will be clipping in 3-4 weeks (blanket clips) and again 2-3 weeks after that and then it normally holds until my early Feb full clip and done for the year. I hate clipping so I need to be strategic to minimise clipping!

My daughters section a is fluffing up despite me rugging desperatly just been and bought a hood to help, we have showing chapionships on the 11th sept and i need his beautifull summer coat still. He will be clipped the week after although legs left on as she has XC the week after!!

She has only just started shedding her summer coat... Don't think it will be long till i am clipping though! Will just be full neck and belly clip for Holl's this year!

It's starting early for me this year!!,

I'm not sure what to do with eowyn to, I normall hunter all my guys but last year with the snow and the lack of riding out I was glad she only got a chaser hoping to beout and about but with weather predicting more snow this year unsure.

Old man gets a hunter as he's so hairy without he sweats just walking out a hack and he gets shown fully clipped so if I want to show he needs it all off any roads :)

I'm holding until end of September if I can. Nickel is living out right now and not rugged (he is grey, but I am not fannying about taking rugs on and off). He's moulting already so it won't be long, I'll be going for a Hunter clip this time, hopefully that will last until January then I will take everything off incl. legs!

I can't decide what to do! Over the many years I've had my horse, his winter clips have got less and less - I didn't clip until February this year, but wished I'd done it sooner as I then had my bouncy cob back! I think it'll be high chaser, probably September and again eight weeks later depending on the weather, then hunter end of January.

Clipped one already :). Will clip Grey mare in two or three weeks probably. Want to clip the Dizzy one, but she doesn't like clippers, so we'll see how it goes. Might get Micky to come out and give a hand, get it so as she is chilled rather than needing sedation

The section As are clipped and FC is going to be clipped the week before the nationals :) Nothing to clip off yet on a few of the Bs and Calv though!

Goodness where do you all live?! Is it because I am a Southern Fairy?! Currently not planning on clipping till October(November?)but I do have one rugged(cotton sheet) currently. Cursed myself now....I'll get to the yard tomorrow and they will all be hairy :(

Well im based in not so sunny windsor and mines producing fluff and have had him rugged, but he is a native so they do tend to start spouting early, although i dont remember him doing it this early last year!!!

I almost clipped this week, but sent my blades off instead. Once they're back the fluff will come off!!! G will get a hunter clip, Titchy obviously won't get anything bar the usual trimming. Genie's been rugged for a while at night (summer sheet) which is unheard of, but she has been ill.

Going to try & hold off til the 1st/2nd weekend in Oct, as I'm busy most weekends in Sept so wont be competing at all.... plus I HATE clipping and last year his first clip grew back so fast it was ridiculous  Will be a hunter? clip (leave legs/half head, don't bother leaving saddle area just use nice saddlecloths!)

sorry to hijack post! but my welsh gets a coat that would put a mammoth to shame if she's not clipped in winter but usually turned away so it's ideal (just awful in the spring to brush out!!)
this winter weather and college permitting she'll be hacked out no faster than trot 3 or 4 times a week. is it worth clipping her or should i just see if she gets too hot/sweaty after exercise and clip if that is the case ?
she's getting fluffy already :eek::eek:
