My friends horse came in from the field a month ago with a huge hock. She called the vet who said it was some sort of trauma and prescribed bute as he was lame. Once off the bute he was still slightly lame and vet said to ultrasound scan it. He diagnosed a False Thoroughpin.
Horse is stiff coming out of his stable and slightly stiffer on that leg on one rein. The hock is enormous and vet now wants to drain the fluid from it and inject steroids into, then box rest with a compression bandage to see if fluid stays away.
Has anyone had this done? what was the outcome?
Is there another way to reduce the swelling using less invasive treatment?
