Anyone competed BS at Yateley

In planning my next outing I have seen on the BS website that Yateley are running BS on 2nd and 3rd June.

It's not too far from me, but I know nothing about the place and I can't seem to find a website or anything.

Can anyone offer any experiences? Is the jumping on a surface or grass?

Does anyone have a schedule or know where I can get one?
 
Its on grass but the ground is good, jumps are a bit tatty but nothing spooky, its never really busy so always relaxed and easy going - perfect for youngsters or if you are nervous.

Classes are usually unaff 2'6 and 2'9, British Novice starts at 11ish, then Discovery, 1m Open, Newcomers/ 1.10; schedule should be on the BS website (Yateley doesnt have a website).

Might give it a go and see as we haven't jumped on grass for a while.

Have contact details from the BS website so will give them a call and find out what time the BN is starting. Would be good if it is 11am - no getting up super early for a change!!
 
Quoting someone else: 'The land that time forgot' :P haha, if you're not bothered about presentation (Fencing etc) and the warm up when I was last there was pretty crappy (a long time ago) then it's a nice low-key place.
 
As other's have said its rustic, oh and if you haven't been before it is out the back of a housing estate, so don't panic when you are driving through a residential area looking for a SJ venue!
 
Not too bothered about presentation!!

We've been to Crofton, Paschesham and Royal Leisure so really just looking for other local venues.

The fact that there are unaff classes first is a bonus as it means I don't have a mega early start either!!

We're still working on our consistency jumping (rather too much speed and he forgets all his flatwork training when he sees a pole!) so it's good to have a variety of places to go and some lower key places so I don't always look totally out of place!

Thanks! It lists the dates but not the classes. Seems odd to have to friend them to see the full schedule. I'm not on facebook, so not an option for me. If anyone does get some info on classes for 2nd and 3rd June, I'd be really grateful if you could post them here.

Suzie, I'm hoping to go on 2nd June for an unaffiliated class and the BN (assuming they are running those classes), so if you manage to get there, I'm happy to help out at the actual venue. Just PM me.
 
Ah the actual schedule is in their photo album on Facebook - 2nd June has a 2'6-2'9, then a 2'9-3 unaffil, then 'not before 12' is British nov, disc, 1m open, then I think newcomers?
 
Good old Yateley! Great place for your first show on grass. The going will be firm rather than soft, its well drained, at the top of a hill. The warm-up may have changed since I last went, this was my only grumble, that it isn't entirely level.

There's a burger van, the ring is roped off, if the clear round is on, the jumps won't have been moved, so are kind of growing out of the ground. CR was always run on an honesty basis: no-one managing it. No flashy poly-jumps here, good old fashioned wooden poles and wings. Might look a bit faded, but still does the trick! It's generally well supported, you may even get 20 in a class from people trying to get their elusive last double clear! Fran used to manage the collecting ring, so they'd get through classes quite efficiebntly. They used to get a BN or Disc second round, but the BS have't allocated them one for a while.

First Aid? Well if you hurt yourself, John Wheeler (owner/manager) will bundle you into his car and drive you straight to A&E. He's a dear old thing - a grumpy as hell but heart of gold! He must be sat on a goldmine with all that land in prime residential area, but he loves his jumping!

Go, and love Yateley for what it is! You'll be taking a step back in time to the Pullein Thompson sisters type of shows!
 
Woodtiger - I haven't jumped there since probably the mid 1990s and it sounds exactly the same. The tracks were always good though did pay to keep an eye on the fences as people would have poles down and be given clear as no one noticed!

Those were the days as they say.

It's wrong but it's SO right !!!

A very very useful local 'mileage' venue.
