I've been struggling the last few weeks with pain in my left wrist and the only thing i can attribute it to is injury from riding and mucking out (sweeping, poo picking etc).

I've been wearing a support on it but it just isnt really getting any better.

Anyone had anything similar and managed to carry on riding and horse care and rest it enough to heal?

I have had similar problems over the years in my wrist and also my elbow. I am afraid to say the only thing that will sort it is rest and treatment. Go see a good physio/osteopath, get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Rest and the exercises they give you are most likely the only things that will work.

Yes and no, I have a. Horse on box rest so my normal simple care method (three horses living out, no poo picking as we Harrow) has been replaced by two horses In all the time, and soaking hay. Various bits of me are complaining, and my Osteopath had the devil of a job to release various painful parts yesterday. I find that it never heals, it just has degrees of comfort... I tend to go to the Osteo monthly in the winter months, six weekly in summer.

It won't ever heal properly without long-term rest. Failing that, the best you can do is continue with a support bandage and icing it. If it was your horse you'd give it 6-8 weeks box rest and cold hosing, but we never do that for ourselves!

I got the equivalent of tennis elbow from excessive sweeping (I like a tidy yard lol!) The only thing that fixed it was acupuncture - haven't had it since. Doctors gave me anti inflammatories and painkillers which didn't touch it.

Definitely get some physio, I had RSI a couple of years ago, and the quicker you get proper treatment for it, the better the chances of a full recovery.

Not from horses but had in my wrist, physio and get some exercises and be prepared to have a sore shoulder but the pains in wrist. I had a wrist problem and yet physio picked up a problem in my neck! Been to surgeon etc by that point! Go to a hand physio mine was fab but she's Ledbury Herefordshire!

OP have you ruled out carpal tunnel? (lots on google)

from the quote above I have carpal tunnel and doctor suggested things I didn't like. Discussed it with my chiro and he advised it was not to do with the wrists but higher up ie neck and shoulder and he was right.

thanks for the advice. I mentioned it to my chiro a few weeks ago and he had a look at it, said the tendons/ligaments (i forget which) felt a bit inflammed. I will also try and get a doctors appointment. I do have a physio appointment next week for my knees so may ask for their opinion if they'll give it.
It is just a complete nuisance, pain every day and i'm finding changing gear driving difficult on the days it is really sore.

The pain is on the ulnar side, just below where the nobbly bump is.
