I am going for the first time tonight. I have 50ps and fish and chips a the ready :)

Usually I send them away but I fancy doing it myself. Its her m/w stable rug. I'm not sure about drying though - they must take hours?!

I tried it for a flysheet - it didn't wash out anything at all :( came out just as dirty and stinky only wet, gross. maybe my laundrette was just like that, who knows.

I have flysheet and waffle rug in my washer as we speak. They will then go in tumble dryer. I will then get knackered by my family when their clothes come out covered in white hairs. Do I care ? Do I buggery.:p

I go the the laundrette after the assistant leaves for the night and get our of there before she comes back to lock out.
The last laundrette barred me from there as i would stay all day with a couple of books and some luch and wash and dry all the stable rugs, and i used to pay for an extra wash to clean the machine after i had finished, miserable buggers

hi - yes i take all my horse stuff - boots, saddle cloths, rugs, my coats anything really dirty. they are fine with it as long as you go late in the day and then they can clean the machine afterwards. everything goes in one machine - they are huge and they come out clean. you then have to put them in a plastic bin bag to get them home to dry?! OR they will do rugs for you and dry them but it costs more. I am going every few weeks now with horse stuff as i blown my machine up at home :( i will not put it in my new one!
one point to note thought - make sure you watch east enders first so you know what to do i hadn't got a clue and got some funny looks :)

I drive by one that always looks empty and I always think one day I am just going to do it, but I would be too afraid of getting in to trouble. I thought maybe I would put the rugs in a duvet cover so it didn't look so suspicious :p

In my experience the water isn't hot enough to do a really good job. I'd put headcollars in an old pillow case with an elastic band round the top to prevent damaging the drum, oh and use bio detergent. After three years the rugs don't get any dirtier!;)
Never seen any one on Eastenders wash horse rugs.:D

My local laundrette has a very large sign up which is visible from the toad (I've never been in!) which lists what can and can't be washed.

"Horse rugs cannot be placed in these machines" is point number 1!!!

You can tell it's in a rural town! I can't imagine that being point 1 in a city laundrette!

Yes I do frequently....until they ban it.

I use a warm wash with prewash, use persil non bio & either fairy fabric conditioner if it's a stable rug, or nikwax rug proofer in the softener compartment if it's a turnout.

It's very satisfying watching the brown /black first wash.

I dont let my secret out too much or we may all get banned.

Rugs don't fit in the launderette machines so I just put numnahs in there. I got chucked out of a couple of launderettes but have found a great one now and I think the owner has taken a shine to me ;) all helps when you need clean numnahs!!

I once took a red show type rug to the laundrette to clean and dye in a different colour as I hated the colour.

Left it for an hour and came back and somehow 'killed' the machine... full of coloured water! Had to shoot back home (1 min in car) to retrieve a very large bucket as the washing machine was one of those top loaders. Had to climb on top and yank the rug out to throw into bucket and then made a quick getaway. Must of looked rather odd me on top of the machine with passing traffic! I never returned!

Top loaders now what are they!!!!??? Am I showing my age!
